This Couple Transformed Their House Into A Stunning Scandinavian Haven With RM80k Budget

Having your own place to call home is every family’s dream. And although it took them 2 years, this family has finally managed to build their dream house in Johor. Mostly inspired by Pinterest, the house demonstrates a stunning Scandinavian vibe with a slight Bohemian twist.

Waited For More Than 2 Years To Build The Dreamy Scandinavian House

Said to Malaysia Homie by Raven K., it took them more than 2 years and a budget of RM80k to build their dream house. The married couple had 2 kids and used to stay at several different places including with their parents, at a shop lot, and also a rented house before being able to build the house they are living in right now. The family moved in September last year and this marks the first home that they owned.

Clearly, as can be seen from the pictures, the family has turned this casual single-storey semi-D into a Scandinavian haven. “We like neutral colors, clean and warm feeling, which is the Scandinavian theme.” Inspired by a lot of Pinterest posts, the house is painted with white & brown colour scheme. They even fill the house with white surfaced furniture to further accentuate the minimal look.

Adding Bohemian Twist In The Design

With a built-up area of 1350sq.ft, the house accommodates 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 1 storeroom. Giving the owners a lot of space to express their creativity. The renovation began in June 2020 till early September 2020.

“As I started to decorate our home, I added a little of Bohemian feel into it. Which explains the quirky painted arch shape in the office room, and many rounded or arched shaped paint job and some macramé decorations around the house. This adds colors and patterns to the area and gives a more vibrant feel.”

Creating Quirky Coffee Bar In Living Room

It’s not every day that you get to see a coffee bar right in the middle of the living room. But this couple pulled it off gorgeously. “To have a coffee bar in the living room is part of our dream. We always wanted a coffee bar that looks like a little café corner.” In order to achieve this, they went to the extra length and added a pipeline into the living room! Talk about dedication!

“It’s really convenient for us as whenever we would like to have a beverage or to wash the cups, we don’t have to walk all the way to the kitchen.”

The Owners Painted And Decorated The Featured Walls Themselves

Thanks to her artistic self, the house is filled with artworks and creative touches from Raven K. You can see her explosive talent bursting through her choice of decor in the home office. “I like to draw during my free time. I framed many of my ink artworks can it can be seen in many corners of the house, like at the walkway, kitchen wall, toilets as well.”

The largest piece of artwork in the house took her 3 months to complete. And by right it deserves to be in the center of attention. “It’s the drawing of 4 flamingos which represents us as a family.” If you are interested in her artwork, do check out her Instagram account; @raven.whitecosmos.

Obviously, one of the most interesting features of her house has to be the office. Especially thanks to the grey arch-shaped paint on the wall. “It was a simple DIY. My husband helped to drill the racks. I nailed and hung all the frames on the wall. Then added all the stationaries and decorations in.”

Roman was not built in the day and neither does your house. Hopefully, this article inspires many of us to be patient and work hard to achieve our goals in life. As quoted by Raven K. “It takes hands to build a house but only hearts can build a home.” If you are interested to create a house like this, you can check out @JSinteriordesign7 that built and designed their whole storage system, in the bedroom, kitchen, and living room.
