Here’s How You Can DIY Your Own Shiplap Wall With Affordable Budget
Who would’ve thought that just by adding a few planks on your wall could make such a difference to the house? The shiplap wall is getting a lot of attention lately and apparently, it’s not even that hard to install. Putting up your own shiplap wall will not only save you a ton of money but will also add character and texture to your space. Thanks to @Fathi Rahman’s post, we now know how to do it ourselves.
DIY Shiplap Wall On A Budget
Honestly, shiplap boards only cost around RM2-RM5 each depending on the size and thickness. Making your house looks new can’t get any cheaper than that. Furthermore, it does not require a lot of tools to install. All you need are silicone glue and popsicle sticks to put up a basic shiplap design. But of course, it is better to do it properly if we want it to last and look professional.

6 Steps To Easily Install Shiplap Wall
Step 1:
Measure your shiplap board and cut it out according to the intended design. You can use a 14″ Mitre Box to properly make angular or vertical cuts. Then you can lay silicon glue on the board.
Step 2:
You can start installing your boards starting from the lowest one and work your way upwards.
Step 3:
Use 2-3 popsicle sticks to make sure that you get a well-distributed gap between each plank. You can even use a spirit level to make sure that you are pasting the boards properly.
Step 4:
Conceal the connecting lines with a gap filler.
Step 5:
Paint your walls with white undercoat paint for 2-3 layers. You can get all of the necessary painting tools here.
Step 6:
When the undercoat layer has completely dried out, you can start painting the wall with colours of your choice. Here’s they are using Satin Glo paint from Nippon Paint.
